हमालीचं काम करणाऱ्या स्त्रीच्या वास्तव जगण्याची प्रेरक गोष्ट - “बबई”!

“पायातली चप्पल पायात ठिवली तर कोणताच भाडखाऊ आपल्याला काय करित नाही.”

    हे वाक्य आहे बबुताई दामोदर लबडे यांचं, ज्यांना सगळे 'बबई' म्हणतात. त्यांचं लग्न वयाच्या ६ व्या वर्षी झालं होतं. म्हणजे बालविवाह. कळत्या होईपर्यंत बरं होतं, पण पुढं वयात आल्यावर अंगावर बाळंतपणं आली. तीही पाच. त्यात घरातली जबादारी वेगळीच. पुढं त्यांचा नवरा त्या २१ वर्षाच्या असताना वारला. मग बसून तर चालणार नव्हतं. काम करायला पाहिजे म्हणून हमालीचं काम सुरु केलं. नवऱ्याचा तेरावा झाला आणि हमालीचा गाडा ओढायला सुरू केला. कारण घरात खाणारी पाच तोडं होती. पुढं त्यांनी काही वेळेला आत्महत्या करण्याचाही प्रत्यत्न केला. एकादा तर पाच लेकरांना घॆऊन रेल्वे खाली झोपल्या. त्यातूनही त्या वाचल्या. आज त्या म्हणतात मेलं नाही तर आता जगायचं आणि तेही खुशीनं.

     ही गोष्ट आहे 'बबई' यांची. बबईचा संघर्ष कविता दातीर व अमित सोनवणे यांनी माहितीपटाच्या माध्यामातून मांडला आहे. गोष्ट क्रिएशन्स निर्मीत 'बबई' या माहितीपटाचा कॅमेरा रोशन मरोडकर यांनी केला आहे. पहिलं दृश्य दिसतं ते काही कबुतर तारेवर बसले आहेत, कोणी तरी येतं आणि पत्र्यावर त्यांना खाण्यासाठी धान्य टाकतं. मग सर्व कबुतर तिथं गर्दी करतात. हे दृश्य तसं नेहमीचच आहे पण सध्याच्या कोरोनाच्या साथीत अडकलेले मजूर, कष्टकरी लोक ज्यांचं आयुष्य या कबुतरांसारखंच झालं आहे. आज मिळालं तर पोट भरलं. ते काही उद्यासाठी साठवून ठेवत नाहीत. त्यामुळेच आज जास्त उपासमारीनं मरणाऱ्यांची संख्या या कबुतरांची आहे. इथून या माहितीपटाची सुरवात होते. यातील प्रत्येक फ्रेम बोलकी आहे. सोबत सांऊड नॅचरल आहे. आजूबाजूचं वातावरण नैसर्गिकपणे टिपलं आहे. चित्रीकरणाचं काम रोशन मरोडकर यांनी खूप सर्जनशीनलतेनं केलं आहे. दिग्दर्शकांनी निवडलेला विषय वर वर पहाता दुर्लक्षित वाटतो पण तेच वेगळेपण वैशिष्ठ ठरतं. कारण नाविन्यपूर्ण विषयाची हाताळणी हे जमेची बाजू आहे. तसं पाहिलं तर अशा विषयाचं चित्रीकरण करण जिकीरीचं असतं. पण यांनी तांत्रिक बाब संभाळत गोष्ट नैसर्गिक पध्दतीने मांडली आहे.

     पुढं बबई कष्टाचं काम करून संसार चालवत होत्या तरी पण त्यांनी हार मानली नाही. त्यांची दोन्ही मुलं घर सोडून गेली. त्यातल्या एकानं आत्महत्या केली. एक तर अजून घरी आला नाही. त्या वाट पाहतात कधी येईल.

     त्या म्हणतात, “ ह्याच्या आधी शिकवायला कोण असतं तर टॅम्पो नाय तर रिक्षा शिकले असते. आता ह्यो केवढा चढ हाय.. आपलं आता धाडीस व्हत नाय. माऊलीचा रथ चढंना आन आपन काय गाडा घॆऊन चढणार हाय?”

      अशी खंत त्या काम करताना व्यक्त करतात. तरूण असताना त्या हातगाडीवर पाचशे ते आठशे किलोपर्यंत माल ओढत होत्या. पण आता त्यांचं वय झालं आहे. त्यामुळे दोनशे ते तीनशॆ किलोच ओढू शकतात. पण अजूनही बसून खात नाहीत. त्यांच्याकडे बघितल्यावर असं वाटंत की ही म्हातारी काय गाडा ओढणार आहे. त्या असं ही म्हणतात, “जरी आपल्या माणसानं काम नाही केलं तरी आपण पुढं होऊन करणं हे आपलं कर्तव्य आहे. एखादी बाई निघती धाडीसबाज नाय तर बाया धाडीसबाज नाई. पहिल्या कोण बाया बाजारात गाडा ओढ्त नव्हत्या. पहिला म्या गाडा सुरू केलं. तवापासून आता बायांनी सुरू केलं हाय.”

     आज पर्यंत त्यांनी असंख्य संकाटांना तोंड दिलं आहे. नवरा दारू पित होता, तरी त्याला आधार दिला. त्याचा मार खाल्ला. त्या बोलताना म्हणतात, “लय लय संकट आल्याली.. म्या ठरवून घेतलं व्हतं की दोन गोष्टी करायच्या नायती - चोरी आन शिंदळकी.. या दोन गोष्टी सोडून तुम्ही काय बी सांगा, म्या करते”.

      आज या वयातही त्या धाडसान गडी जे काम करण्यासाठी कचरतात ते काम अतिशय हिंमतीनं करतात. अडाणी आहे म्हणून त्या मागं राहिल्या नाहीत. आज कामासाठी त्या मोबाईलसुद्धा वापरतात. त्या विषयी त्या म्हणतात, “कष्ट करायंच म्हंजी स्वच्छ करायचं. गड्याची मेहनत करायची म्हणल्यावर घाबरायचं नाय. आलं किती आन गेलं किती, कशाला घाबरायचं नाय. आपल्या अंगात ताकत हाय. हिंमत हरायची नाय. आपण नाय धाडीस केलं तर जिंदगीला अर्थ काय? कोणत्या गोष्टीची आठवण करून उपयोग नाय..आपण खचतो. आपली उभारी खचते. असं म्हणणा-या बबई नेमक कशा जगतात, कशा संकटाना सामोरं जातात, इथल्या व्यवस्थेत त्यांना कोणाचा आधार मिळतो आणि जगताना त्या निर्भीड कशा होतात हे  प्रत्यक्ष डॉक्यूमेंटरीमध्येच पहा.”

    This is the sentence of Babutai Damodar Labade, whom everyone calls 'Babai'. They were married at the age of six. I.e. child marriage. It was fine until I realized it, but as I got older, I started having childbirth. That's five. The responsibility of the house is different. Later, her husband died when she was 21 years old. Then I would not sit and walk. I started working as a porter. The husband turned thirteen and began to pull the cart. Because there were five cracks in the house. He later tried to commit suicide for some time. At one point, he took five children and slept under the train. She survived. Today, she says, she didn't die, but now she wants to live happily.

     This is the story of 'Babai'. Babai's struggle is presented by Kavita Datir and Amit Sonawane through a documentary. Roshan Marodkar is the cameraman of the documentary 'Babai' produced by Goshta Creations. At first sight, some pigeons are perched on the star, someone comes and throws grain on the leaves to eat them. Then all the pigeons crowd there. This is always the case, but the current corona is stuck with laborers, hardworking people whose lives have become like these pigeons. If I get it today, my stomach will be full. They don’t save anything for tomorrow. That is why these pigeons are dying of starvation today. This is where the documentary begins. Each of these frames is eloquent. The sound is natural. The surrounding environment is naturally captivating. Roshan Marodkar has done the filming very creatively. The theme chosen by the director may seem insignificant at first glance, but that is the difference. Because handling an innovative subject is a plus. From that point of view, filming such a subject is a chore. But he handles the technicalities and presents the story in a natural way.

Later, Babai worked hard but did not give up. Both their children left home. One of them committed suicide. One has not come home yet. They wait to come someday.

     She says, “Before this, if there was anyone to teach, Tampo Nai would have learned rickshaw. Hi, how are you? Hi .. we don't have the courage now. When Mauli's chariot is to be climbed, what chariot will you take? ”

      Such grief is expressed while working. When he was young, he was carrying five hundred to eight hundred kilos of goods on that handcart. But now he is old. So they can pull only two hundred to three hundred kilos. But still do not sit and eat. Looking at them, I wonder what kind of cart this old lady is going to pull. She says, “Even if our man does not do the work, it is our duty to go ahead and do it. A woman is a brave hairdresser and a hairdresser is a hairdresser. The first ones were not driving in the bazaar. I started the first cart. now the left has started from that day. ”

To this day, they have faced numerous adversities. The husband was drunk, but supported him. He was beaten. While speaking, she says, "There was a rhythm crisis .. I had decided to do two things - stealing and slandering. Apart from these two things, tell me what you are doing."

      Even today, at this age, those brave batsmen who work hard do the work with great courage. Being ignorant, they did not stay behind. Today they also use mobiles for work. She says about it, “I have to work hard to clean it. Don't be afraid to work hard. How many came and how many went, why not be afraid. Hi strength in your body. Courage to lose courage. What is the meaning of life if you dare? What is the use of remembering something..we spend. Your upbringing costs. See in the documentary exactly how the babais who say so live, how they face adversity, who they support in the system here and how they become fearless while living. ”
